Chernye Metally

The Chernye Metally journal No. 3-2022 was published, which is mainly devoted to sintering and the production of cast iron, as well as pipes. It is headed with an introductory article by Prof. A.V. Vydrin, member of the editorial board, head of the chair for Processes and Machines of Mechanical Engineering of the South Ural State University.

The first section presents articles devoted to the study of the physicochemical properties of high-quality sinter of PJSC MMK factory No. 5 during reduction in a hydrogen environment, consideration of the issue of creating simulation models for controlling the quality characteristics of sinter based on the committee method (development of the Ural Federal University), modernization of a coke breeze bunker`sgate drive of the of the JSCUral Steel`s blast furnace.

The next section is Foundry will be of interest for readers in the continuation of the article on the effect of modification on the performance properties of mold cast iron (part 1 published in the Chernye Metallyjournal No. 1, 2021).

The Pipe Production section highlights the issues of microstructure formation in the heat-affected zone of welded joints of pipes of the X100 strength category (JSC RusNITI), considers changes in the shape of large-diameter pipes during assembly and welding (NUST MISIS), presents the process of production of HFC electric-welded pipes from structural steel with resistance to hydrogen cracking (Vyksa Metallurgical Plant), the quality of pipes was assessed using the Harrington desirability function (Ural Federal University).

Of interest are the articles presented in the Rolling and Metal Science section, which tell about the research of rolling production at the largest metallurgical plants - Magnitogorsk, Novolipetsk and Severstal.

In the same issue, publications are presented in the Control and Technological Measurements and Ecology and Recycling sections
