Tsvetnye Metally
Issue 2 of Tsvetnye Metally marks the 80th anniversary of the Science and Technology Directorate at MMC Norilsk Nickel’s Polar Division.
The current issue features a collection of papers mostly authored by the expert staff of the above Directorate.
The articles describe new ideas on the comprehensive use of raw materials by the Company’s concentrator plants. They focus on enhancing the performance of smelters (including flash smelters) dealing with poorer concentrates, better understanding the process of copper electrorefining, developing a regeneration process for ceramic elements, using accretion inhibitors by the sulphur flotation circuit at the hydrometallurgical facility of Nadezhda Plant, examining parting compounds for the copper anode line and experimental validation of ore testing results at Talnakh Concentrator.
The issue features a special selection of articles that deal with production automation and digitalization. Diversity of subject matter and a wide range of various scientific disciplines represented in the articles point out the wide scope of scientific interests demonstrated by the Directorate staff. Each article gives practical advice, which is of relevance for the Polar Division’s sites. It should be noted that the papers presented in this issue are in line with the Company’s strategic plans as they focus on production modernization, digitalization and expansion, as well as environmental safety.
