Gornyi Zhurnal
The 9-th issue of "Gornyi Zhurnal" (Mining Journal) (September, 2013) shares the materials, describing the mineral resource potential, status and prospects of development of mining complex of Komi Republic. Komi Republic is the dynamically developing region of Russia. Mineral resources include the reserves of coal; oil; gas; bauxites; salts; gold; diamonds; ferrous, non-ferrous and rare metal ores; fluorite; kerosene shales; construction materials etc. Ore minerals have a large variety of composition and content of valuable components. Nowadays, deposits of ores of ferrous metals (manganese, titanium and chromite), non-ferrous metals (bauxite, copper and polymetallic), rare metals (tungsten, molybdenium, bismuth, niobium and tantalum), noble metals (gold, platinoid and silver) and diamond deposits are revealed, explored and estimated in the Republic. Articles of this issue contain the analysis of state of mineral resource base, its structure and exploration status. Urgent problems of subsoil use and nature management are considered. There are described the basic ways of social-economic development of Komi Republic.
