The article gives an information about the shelf deposits of a ferromanganese nodules (FMN) of a Gulf of Finland – the first industrial importance objects, which are known by Russian and world geological practice. There is presented the brief retrospective survey of the development of the complex researching problem and the resource deposit preparation, the development of the technical properties, the FMN development technologies and their plant experimental-industrial processing. There are briefely considered the features of the methodology and practical experience of the large-capacity technological testing, including the primary enrichment process. There are given the results of researching the nodules` processing technologies. They prove the possibility of using the shelf FMN as a raw materials for the metallurgy industruy, processing of mineral fertilizers, as well as the absorbent-catalysts by synthesis of various chemical compounds.
