Abstract | Cobalt base metal oxide ceramics are s new promising thermoelectric materials. In this work, polycrystalline samples of the Er1-xAxCoO3-δ and Ho1-xAxCoO3 (A = Ca, Sr; 0,05 ≤ х ≤ 0,95) compositions have been for the first time synthesized using the standard solid-phase method. The effects of impurities on the transport and thermoelectric properties have been studied for these samples. The substitution of 5 % Ho3+ (or Er3+) for Sr2+ is found to change the sign of the Seebeck coefficient at 300 K. This demonstrates that not only holes but also electrons can be charge carriers in studied samples. |
