| Abstract | The main belt conveyors at crushing and processing plants are equipped with diagonal plows to remove material from the belt. As a case-study of the crushing and processing plant at the Tashtagol Division of EVRAZ ZSMK, this article describes the results of investigation of a variable-speed electric drive for a conveyor with a diagonal plow. In this case, the diagonal plow serves for the fast removal of metallic inclusions from ore flow to prevent impairment of secondary crusher KSD-2200T and to stabilize the flow on the belt. Operation of electric drives of such conveyors involves the risks of short-term current overloads and mechanical impacting attacks on the drive shaft. The study substantiates and implements the control strategy of the conveyor with the diagonal plow using the induction motor vector control. With the help of experimental oscillograms of stator current, the load moment on the motor shaft is reconstructed, the variable mechanical load is modeled, and the simulation model of the induction motor is built in MATLAB/Simulink. The model can be used for the analysis of the induction motor operation since the average disagreement of the steady-state current values from the calculation and experiments is not higher than 3–7 %, which is allowable for engineering design and estimation of load conditions. The technological and anticipated economic effects of introduction of the induction motor with vector control are: reduction of integrated loss of copper by 25–35 %, decreased associate loss of ore in removal of inclusions by 15–25 %, cut-down out-of-service time by 10–30 %, which conforms with decreased energy intensity by 2–6 % and with increment in production output by 0.5–2 %. The research findings prove the expediency of introduction of induction motors with vector control. |
