| Abstract | The article examines the problem of the increase in sudden deaths of workers in the workplace from common diseases at the business units of the mining and metallurgy sector in the Belgorod Region for the period from 2014 to 2024. The purpose of the study was to review the causes of death of workers in the workplace from common diseases, to develop preventive measures to prevent such cases, as well as to work out a mechanism for guarantees and compensation to the families of the deceased. Based on the available data, the analysis of deaths of workers in the workplace was carried out. The calculation of the frequency of sudden death of workers at workplaces in the mining and metallurgy sector of the region per 1000 employees, taking into account their average number, was carried out, and the dynamics showing an increase in the number of cases was estimated. After conducting a comparison, it is found that the number of deaths in the workplace as a result of common diseases exceeds fatal occupational injuries by 1.4 times. After studying the materials of investigations of accidents unrelated to production, it was found that the working conditions of deceased workers, according to the results of a special assessment, in most cases corresponded to harmful working conditions, which were attended by such harmful factors as severity, noise, vibration and work intensity. When analyzing the conclusions of the specialists of the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examinations, it was found that the main causes of deaths of employees were diseases of the cardiovascular system that were not diagnosed during their lifetime. It is proposed to improve the procedure for conducting periodic medical examinations with the increased participation of medical specialists, as well as to develop modern diagnostic techniques. Also, in order to increase the social protection of the families of deceased employees, it is proposed to introduce the practice of compulsory insurance of employees in case of death from a common disease. |
