Abstract

In recent years, Giprotsvetmet has carried out the systematic analysis of the number of audits of ore objects at various stages and degrees of development. The purpose of a geological audit of mines and deposits is the comprehensive assessment of geological information associated with a mineral object, the task of which is to determine the level of available geological knowledge, identify the problem areas and risks, appraise the ore reserves and quality, as well as to develop recommendations to improve efficiency of mining. The auditing includes both junior geological exploration projects, which are a new milestone in the development of the Giprotsvetmet design institute, and mining and geological hubs with a century-long history, requiring reconstruction of the existing mining and processing integrated works (Lovozero and Urup GOKs at the deposits of the same name). A modern geological audit is the result of a systematic analysis of all available data on the geological structure of a deposit (or a promising object), the quality of raw materials and the geological conditions of the object. It helps develop well-founded recommendations necessary both for further mining of edges or deep levels of a mineral field, and for organization of work at promising but poorly studied objects. The geological information obtained in implementation of recommendations of a geological audit enables high-quality project development, as well as further efficient and, what is more, safe mineral mining. Examples of geological auditing illustrate its advantages: higher reliability of geological information; reduction of risks in mineral mining; optimization of works and reduction in expenditure; higher production safety; improvement of ecological situation in a mining area.
