Abstract

The technological paradigm formulated for the mineral sector exclusively on the basis of economic imperative, and the related extensive development of the mining industry has led to the fact that for the last 100 years the fivefold growth in the world population is provided with the multiple expansion of mineral production with the ensuing global and local environmental consequences for all base geospheres of the Earth. Based on the cognitive analysis of the interaction between Man and Nature, the necessity of creating methods for quantifying the environmental consequences of man-made changes in the subsoil in the process of economic development is substantiated. The unified methodological approach to the quantification of mining-induced changes in the base geospheres of the Earth is proposed. It is shown that the use of the unified methods can enable comparing and selecting mining technologies not only by technical and economic indicators, but, above all, by the environmental consequences of their application. The analysis of changes in geospheres in the course of development of natural-andtechnical systems using convergent mining technologies shows that this modification trend in the mining practice ensures reduction in the adverse effect of the man-made geoecological factors on all base geospheres of the Earth. The proposed methodological approaches to the quantification of ecological changes in the base geospheres of the Earth in the course of development of mineral resources allow taking into account the inherent characteristics of formation and impact of mining-induced factors on the ecosphere of our planet.
