Abstract | This article discusses the methodology developed by the authors to substantiate and optimize the use of various types of air dedusting during underground mining, as well as any other types of work related to the release of coal dust. In addition, it is proposed to apply this technique in order to take into account the influence of dust suppression measures on the aerodynamic characteristics of air flow in a mine as a whole and in its individual sections. As a proof of the expediency of using the proposed methodology, the mathematical modeling of a section of the twin roadways was carried out and the comparative analysis of two model alternatives of a labyrinth-type fabric air curtain on the site of return air from the workplace using the ANSYS Fluent software product was performed. This work rests upon the authors’ previous studies including simulation of air flow in underground mine roadways of various geometrics and calculation of aerodynamic characteristics of air jet. Based on the obtained characteristics, the calculation of coal dust flow was carried out using computer modeling tools in ANSYS Fluent. Furthermore, the convergence of the applied mathematical model with the data of the aerodynamic bench testing and full-scale experiments was proved. |
