Abstract

It is shown that one of the most effective methods of increasing sinter process performance, including in terms of solid fuel efficiency, is late feeding of coke breeze to the charge granules in the pelletizing process. The results of laboratory experiments to study the effect of late feeding of coke breeze on sintering granules on sintering process indicators and quality of sinter in the charge conditions of JSC "Ural Steel" are presented. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the best sintering process indicators in terms of yield, sintering rate, specific productivity and quality of sinter are achieved when feeding 50-75 % (of the total consumption) of coke breeze at the end of pelletizing. Further increase in the share of coke breeze fed at the end of pelletizing up to 100% does not lead to improvement in the sintering process. The resulting effect can be explained by an optimal combination of the rate of movement of the combustion zone and the duration of the charge in the hightemperature sintering zone. This contributes to a more complete involvement of iron-ore materials in the melting processes, as well as ensures a more complete use of solid fuel.
