| Abstract | The achievements of the scientific pyrometallurgical school in the South Ural State University (SUSU) in the field of theory and practice of steel making is observed since the beginning of 1950-ies. The extraordinary input of this school in examination of behaviour of hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur in steel, deoxidation and forming of non-metallic inclusions, properties of slag solutions, theory of selective solid-phase reduction of metals is described. The important role of the scintific school in development and mastering of advanced steelmaking technologies is shown. |
