Abstract | Georgsmarienhütte (GMH) company has actively developed during last years waste-free strategy. This strategy includes the advanced methods for recycling of ladle treatment slags inside the enterprises and usage of thermal power got from steelmaking slags, in addition to complete variation of chemical and mineralogical slag composition. This approach is based on reliable usage of steelmaking slag and provides real different possibilities for better correspondence to the principles of sustainable development in comparison with previous eff orts. The developed and conducted waste-free GMH policy can be formulated as combination of 4 “R”: Rethink, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. All these processes usually require essential financial expenses, but ecologically acceptable production is required by legislative standards in Germany. Georgsmarienhütte GmbH plans to become the first electric steel producer in Europe that will realize waste-free strategy owing to continuous researches in the field of |
