Abstract

The company thyssenkrupp Rasselstein manufactures chromium-coated thin tinplate for different packing usage at its largest worldwide production site. Observance of the highest quality standards and principles of sustainable development are considered as the company’s highest priorities. The measurement system for on-line determination of chromium (VI) content in exhausted gases of the chromium coating unit has been put into operation in Rasselstein in order to provide continuous improvement of technological parameters of production processes. Direct control of exhausted gases in the chimney allows to react quickly on the measured results and, thereby to provide precise process optimization. Operation of the technological ion chromatograph in usual routine procedure provides reliability of operation of exhausted gases cleaning and meeting their requirements on ultimate allowable values of emissions in these gases, owing to continuous control of chromium (VI) content.
