Abstract |
An overview of efficiency of use of nonmetallic minerals points at the high-repeatability demand and low cost of this raw stock in the production of construction materials. The research findings demonstrate multipurpose utilization of nonmetallic minerals in the construction industry based on the modern science-driven, energy- and resource-saving technologies. A particular study was focused on the multifunctional light-annealed granular ceramic material made from shale to manufacture: heat-insulating fill (density of 0.8–0.9 t/m3) to substitute ceramsite sand; active mineral supplement for production of slag pozzolanic-lime binder (grade 200); Portland cement 400–500 (to 30–50%) in clinker milling, as well as binder of low water demand (VNV-50); unfired heat-insulating material based on hydrophobic expanded perlite with the bulk density of 75–150 kg/m3, with a binder represented by nano-dispersion sodium polysilicate obtained in joint synthesis of silica sol and anhydrous sodium silicate; newgeneration silica refractory concrete with a binder made of nano-dispersion sodium polysilicate. The results of the studies into the feasibility of using clay rocks in the expanded clay aggregate manufacture, mostly with a view to producing ceramsite sand are presented. |
