Abstract

Nizhniy Tagil is one of the largest industrial cities in Ural region and in Russia in general. The experience of development and strengthening of Nizhniy Tagil metallurgical works is inseparably tied with traditions of the Ural metallurgy. The current Nizhniy Tagil metallurgical works is a successor of ironmaking plant established by Demidov family in 1725. It has passed all stages of metallurgical development in XX and XXI centuries, including its large input in the victory ib the Great Patriotic war, putting into practice the basic converter steel production firstly in Russia in 1963 and the unique production of wide-flanged steel beams in 1977. The history and achievements of the enterprise are reflected in expositions of the corporate EVRAZ NTMK museum, aimed on saving and propagation of industrial and cultural heritage of Nizhniy Tagil metallurgy.
