Abstract | EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Works is the largest producer of transport steel products in Russia and other CIS countries. Dimension range of products of the wheel-tyre shop includes different tyres, wheel centers, crane wheel billets, rings and railroad wheels. Cutting the production expenses allows to decrease cost and to rise competitiveness of manufactured products. Cost of the deformation tools in the rolling shop are evaluated by the specialists as 10–15% of total expenses of this technological stage. It is stated that improvement of operation parameters of deformation tools is the best way to solve the problem of economical efficiency. The paper presents the example on technical efficiency of the realizing complex of measures directed on rise of operation resistance of dies used in railroad wheels production. Thereby quality of rough wheels was improved, level of metal rejects was decreased and productivity of extruding-rolling production line was elevated. Choice of optimal steel grade for dies, usage of the technology of dies restoration via metal facing and usage of efficient lubrication (produced in Russia) provided lowering of deformation tool consumption by 2.5 times. |
