Abstract | Generally, excavating machines operated at open pit mines in Russia and in the other CIS countries have the above-standard life expectancy. As follows from the analysis of the reliability factors of mining excavators, the maximum number of failures of the machine steel structures falls at the arm (30%). The main causes of the arm failure in excavators with the gear racks are the dynamic loads above the permissible level; design of the arm structure resulting in high concentration of stresses and the consequences of repair. The most common defects of steel structures are the fatigue cracks in steel and in joint welds. The analysis of the failure causes in steel structures of excavators shows that the majority of the failures are connected with the loads above the limiting values as a consequence of low skills of operators, poor preparation of rocks for excavation etc. Actually, when differently experienced operators work one and the same excavator in the same geological conditions, loads in the boom hoist cable can differ greatly. The authors of this article have developed the fuzzy model for the determination of the effect of an operating mode on the value and nature of loads in excavator parts using the mathematical tools of fuzzy logic. The authors suggest optimization of operation and control of a mining excavator with MATLAB Fuzzy Logic Toolbox. |
