Abstract |
Russian massive rebellious pyritic copper–zinc ores are difficult-to-process. For a few decades, the problem connected with the processing and extraction of nonferrous and precious metals remains yet to be solved. The theoretical and practical knowledge on the material constitution and process properties of this raw material types has been accumulated. The key lines toward implementation of engineering solutions aimed at completeness and soundness of nature management and use of basic kinds of minerals with the extraction of nonferrous and rare metals of high value are identified. The accompanying rare, precious and rare-earth metals occur in the mentioned ore not as the independent mineral aggregates but as the disseminated inclusions or isomorphic admixtures in iron sulfides and, in a lesser amount, in copper and zinc sulfides and rock-forming minerals. Thus, recovery of these accompanying elements depends on the extraction of minerals–bearers of these elements. The ratio of minerals–bearers of other metals—pyrite, copper sulfides, sphalerite, etc. extracted in a flotation product governs recovery of the accompanying elements in the main concentrates of nonferrous metals and in solid product. The developed technologies allow production of rich selective concentrates at the ore processing stages and separation of polymetallic products for the further pyrohydrometallurgical treatment within individual process circuits. The implementation of the sound technologies of integrated processing of rebellious pyritic polymetallic ore needs capital investment for the construction of pyro-hydrometallur gical plants intended for the fulfillment of multi-operation process cycles based on the integrated treatment using concentration, different kinds of roasting, selective methods of chemical leaching and recovery of chemical compounds to metallic phase. The developed efficient integrated technologies have been full-scale trialed at many processing plants, at the pilot factory of the GINTSVETMET Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals (ROEMZ, Ryazan), at the Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, Irtysh Polymetallic Plant, as well as at the Institutes of MISIS, VNIItsvetmet, Unipromed, Uralmekhanobr and other objects of nonferrous metallurgy. The study has been carried out with the participation of A. A. Kayumov, Post-Graduate Student of the Mineral Beneficiation Chair. The study has been supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Grant No. 17-05-00890. |
