Abstract

Development of induction heating energy-saving technology, which allows to accelerate significantly the process of steel wire heat treatment, is discussed in this paper. Analysis of the international trends of induction heating and forecasts of its application shows steady expansion of induction technologies in metallurgical industry. Advantages of induction heating possesses in comparison with other competitive technologies are discussed. Heat treatment in electrotechnological induction plants is determined by the interconnected electrical and thermophysical processes taking place in these processes, as well as by complex character of the distribution of heat induction sources and the dependence between the features of power distribution of induction plant and the temperature of processed products. Peculiarities of usage of the induction heating method in the hardware industry for previously unused objects, such as wire coils and calibrated steel, are discussed. The results of investigation of the effect of induction heating on the temperature and temporal factors during formation of the structure, on increase of heating uniformity and quality of heat treatment of steel wire, calibrated steel in coils are presented taking into account the stated technological problem. Evaluation of application efficiency of medium- and high-frequency induction heating of steel wire with various diameters is given. The efficiency coefficient of induction heating plant has been also evaluated at simultaneous heat treatment of several threads of steel wire of the same diameter combined in a bunch. Development of the new and modernization of the existing induction heating plants in various technological processes requires the complex solution of mathematical simulation problems of optimal designing and construction.
