Abstract | The paper presents the results of the studies performed with a view to estimate the Gusevogorskoye deposit Severnaya ore lode titaniummagnetite ore mineral composition effect upon magnetic concentration results. The deposit in question is being developed by the EVRAZ KGOK company. The used laboratory methods of the titanium-magnetite ore samples studies are described. The results of the acquired data statistical analysis are presented. The relationship between iron and titanium grades and magnetite and ilmenite contents in the samples was established. On the basis of the Severnaya lode titaniummagnetite ore samples dry magnetic separation tests, ilmenite effect upon magnetite recovery into magnetic fraction (concentrate) was appraised. A negative effect of ilmenite upon magnetite magnetic concentration and its transition into magnetic fraction (concentrate) was not established. The results of ilmenite magnetic separation and its distribution in fractions differing in magnetic properties are mainly effected by the form of its occurrence in the ore — as grains (in free form) or lamellae (in aggregates), and not by its content. With the applied ore magnetic separation flow sheet, ilmenite in free form is mostly transferred into weakly-magnetic fractions (tailings), a major part of ilmenite in the form of lamellae is concentrated in ferromagnetic fraction, i. e., is transferred into concentrate, contributing to increased grade of TiO2 (2–2.5 %) in concentrate. The obtained results will provide a scientific background for further improvement of the magnetic separation processes in the Gusevogorskoye deposit ores beneficiation. |
