Abstract | Walzen Irle GmbH has developed vertical-type centrifugal casting machines with accompanied software for calculation of casting parameters that enable to manufacture innovative work rolls for heavy plate rolling mills. It is necessary to plan thoroughly all technological stages and to implement them in strict correspondence with preset parameters in order to achieve and hold the required effi ciency level. Each deviation can lead to defects and rejection of rolls. Especial attention is paid to the process reproducibility to provide meeting the special requirements of customers and to guarantee the quality of products. Continuous registration of all important technological parameters is a pledge of continuous improvement pf technological process of roll fabrication. At present time Walzen Irle company not only improves permanently already existing materials, but also develops actively new improved steels (e.g. HSS or semi-HSS) for rolls, to be able to supply all customers in the future with high-quality rolls. |
