Abstract | The paper presents description of the new 3D section gauge TopScan. It is characterized by continuous operating mode with data actualization every 20 s as well as by ability to measure entire surface of charge material. The following advantages of the new device are examined: continuous observation on charge material; analysis of the technological process and feedback; continuous comparison of V-shapes and 3D models of the layers (planning is not mandatory); early detection and localization of asymmetries and deviations; absence of interaction or blocking with the charging system without charge retard; better understanding of charging process; exact localization of the medium hole; observation of building of layers during charging process (the effect of coke substitution). Investigation of other possibilities of the new 3D section gauge TopScan is conducted; e.g. it is devoted to minimization of consumption of reducing agents as well as to early detection of dangerous processes (suspension, blowhole). The first production testings have displayed that this system is essentially better than conventional section gauges by different parametars. |
