Abstract | The requirements to technical execution of switching-on of electric arc furnaces to electric power supply become more and more strict. Thereby several metallurgical works plan to re-design compensating devices in the point of their switching-on during the nearest years. The paper presents the cheap alternative to usual compensator of reactive capacity including asymmetrically switched solid-state switcher of transforming stages and compensator with thyristor control. It is characterized by practically zero losses and can be considered as a suitable solution meaning cutting of higher harmonics, reactive capacity and flicker effect. These conclusions can also be related to purchasing of the new furnace transformer and, additionally, can give any advantage in productivity (e.g. increase of capacity owing to rise of arc voltage and/or arc current). It is expedient to examine switching-on scheme for electric steelmaking shops in more details. |
