Abstract | The author identifies topical problems that exist in supply of mineral mining and processing companies with mining engineers—starting from quality education and engagement of graduates on up to their adaptation at a working place. The article states tutoring as a tool of reduction in personnel deflections and holding of young specialist at the related job positions. The tutoring approaches to effective involvement of a specialist owing to balanced implementation of adaptation, education and reference functions are illustrated. Uralkali company has studied key skills of tutors of graduates in “surveying.” The comparative analysis of professional skills of groups composed of surveyors-tutors has shown that the groups of tutors with high and medium-level skills have almost the same qualification criteria. Out of 26 criteria included in the theoretical model, only 9 criteria were confirmed. Based on the correlation analysis, the model of the key skills of a surveyor-tutor has been constructed. The constructed multi-criterion model of skills includes motivational and personal characteristics and allows a justified choice of an efficient tutor for a graduate to be assigned to the surveyor job position. Selection and assignment of tutors in accord with the key skills makes it possible to shorten the period of preparing a graduate for unrestricted work, as well as to stimulate the graduate’s motivation to build career in a given company. |
