Abstract | Under analysis are the processes of pelletizing low-silicon concentrates of Tebinbulak iron ore, Republic of Uzbekistan. It is suggested to prepare the concentrates for treatment in blast furnace by agglomeration and sintering of pellets on a conveyor-type machine. The optimized composition of agglomerated batch was defined by varying its basicity from 2.0 to 6.0 and solid fuel content from 45 to 55 kgf/t. The baking shortcut was found in baking a pilot lot of pellets in Tamman furnace, under varied temperatures and heating rates. According to the results obtained, the optimum strength and agglomerating capacity are demonstrated by the agglomerate with the basicity of 4.7, and sinter machine output reaches its maximum in this case. For manufacturing nonfluxed pellets on conveyor-type sintering machines, it is recommended to apply an intermediate heat processing mode, ensuring sufficient strength of pellets for blast-furnace smelting. The research findings have allowed development of guidelines on production procedures for agglomeration and pellet firing workshops. |
