Abstract | Fast cooling of metal directly in the process of its casting or rolling is one of prospective ways of modern development of metallurgical technologies. Calculation of efficient ball filling of cooling roll is one of urgent tasks, which have not been considered yet. On the basis of well-known problem of kissing numbers, there was solved a task of 3D configuration of infinite set in cylindrical pipe (hollow roller of continuous casting machine or rolling mill). Solving of this problem was substantiated by urgency of designing of roller cooling elements of actuating mechanism of innovation system of automatic control of process of cooling of stock steels and rolled products. Authors have developed the method of calculation of compact ball filling of cooling roller, which allows to increase the accuracy of calculation of area of heat-extraction contact surface of each roller and its heat capacity, which provides the decreasing of dynamic error of management of cooling processes, crystallization and recrystallization of metal. At the same time, this method makes it possible to calculate the amount of energy, extracted by roller, which will increase the accuracy of process controlling significantly, together with instrumental means of control. Obtained method of calculation of compact ball filling of cooling roller is an instrument, which is necessary both on the stage of designing of roller cooling systems (because it makes possible to achieve the best ball filling of roller), and during the development of control systems of roller cooling (allows to make an accurate calculation of heat-extraction area surface, as well as area of contact of balls and internal surface of roller). |
