Abstract | Russia is the world leader in diamond production. Magmatogenous (kimberlite) placer and primary deposits are exploited in Siberia, European Part and Urals. Primary deposits include the major part of the resources and extraction of diamonds in Russia. The highest average concentrations of diamonds are defined in some shockmetamorphites and fluidites. However, these diamonds have low technical quality. Kimberlites are the only primary rock source of gem and high-quality technical diamonds. The discovered trends of kimberlite locations made it possible to put forward a general model of the structure of kimberlite provinces and apply it for the forecast of diamondiferous primary deposits. The inner part of Russian kimberlite province between Moscow and Ukrainian syneclises is very prospective for discovery of rich land diamond deposits. 95 % of the placer diamonds are situated in the Polar Regions of Yakutia. |
