Abstract | Nowadays, the sets of Russian State Geological map (the scale equals 1:1 000 000) are made for near whole Russian Arctic shelf. Data of the third generation sheets of Gosgeolkarta-1000 include all available geological and geophysical information: maps, text and data banks. Regional seismic CDP profiles, gravity and magnetic fields and results of geological surveys are the basis of water area geological maps. Geomorphologic map is very important for mapping of Arctic water areas. It can be determined as a base map for neotectonic faults and mapping of mass wasting structures. In the period of 2007-2012, VNIIOkeangeologiya obtained new geological data from continent-ocean transition zone and adjacent deepwater area of Arctic ocean. New model of sediment cover structure was made for the near-Laptev part of Lomonosov Ridge on the basis of interpretation of seismic data. The bedrock outcrops from the seamounts slopes of Mendeleev Rise where found and sampled during the expedition in 2012. There were also obtained the good evidences for local genesis of dropstones, taken from foots of Lomonosov Ridge and Mendeleev Rise. Making of the State Geological map sheets for land-sea transition zone in the Russian East Arctic shelf is an urgent task for further geological mapping. |
