Usinskoe deposit of coking coal in Komi Republic was found in 1944. Exploratory works were carried out in the period of 1954-1976. The deposit was divided into three mine fields along the direction of strata. In January 2011, “Novo-Lipetsk Metallurgical Combine” LLC won the contest for the right to exploration and extraction of black coal reserves at the license area «Mine field No. 3 of Usinskoe deposit». In February, 2013, the geological works with composition of feasibility study of standards and geological report, with transfer of materials for the State expert review were completed on the area. Production capacity of mining and concentration complex "Usinsk-3" is planned in the capacity of 4.5 mln. t of coal per year. In 2013, further licensed area mastering strategy will be clarified after approval of standards and placement of coal reserves to the State balance. According to the conditions of usage of mineral resources, commissioning of mines is planned to be realized in 2018, with running to designed capacity of enterprises to 2020. Opening of mine field of the licensed block is provided by vertical technological and ventilation shafts. In the first place, there is planned to carry out the development of Severny area. After extraction of this area reserves, mining operations will be replaced to the Yuzhny area. Due to realization of coal project at Usinskoe deposit, “Novo-Lipetsk Metallurgical Combine” LLC plans to provide its chemical-recovery production with its own coals of coaking grades, which is important to raw material safety of enterprise, taking into account the formed situation with planned withdrawal of coal capacities at Russian North East.
