Abstract | The paper deals with an integral solution of issues related to grinding mill scrap classification and recovery by means of a magnetic separator. As found by investigations of MSHR 3200x3800 and MSHR 3200x3800 first stage mills discharge composition at Norilsk and Urupp concentrating plants, metallic scrap characteristics are very much alike though widely varying by shape and size of particles. The amount of scrap in the spiral classifier sands of the Urupp concentrator may be up to 8 per cent of the circulating load. Some hitherto unknown regularities of grinding media break up have been found. The design of the magnetic separator used provided possibility for a single pass 100 per cent recovery of magnetic scrap from dewatered circulating load mass consisting of 98–99% +2 mm size classes. In that case the circulating load did not exceed 25 % of feed amount. The further studies should be directed at the development of some devices to transport the circulating load more efficiently than the spiral classifiers that are used now. |
