Abstract

Manifold tunnels come first in utilities infrastructure. Rates of manifold tunnel construction grow while design and lining of the tunnels remain unmodified, which results in accumulating damages and failures. Higher efficiency and quality of civil engineering works is achievable through advanced construction technologies and improved lining materials. One of the advanced and best suited methods of tunnel construction in a megacity is tunneling using shield support without temporary lining, which promotes the tunneling safety and economic effect. Reliability of an underground structure and its stability in operation are highly dependable on the lining techniques. Prefabricated lining best of all conforms to the modern construction standards. Factory-built structural elements of the prefabricated lining feature higher quality and lower metal consumption than monolithic lining. Besides, construction using the prefabricated lining benefits from swiftness and comparatively low labor content. Here and now, linings are composite, sandwich structures. There is a tendency in the world toward design and manufacture of factory-made lining with inner and outer polymeric coating, which makes it possible to go without damp-proof course.
