Abstract | Testings of pilot parties of dry gunning mixes (Brolitex Bulk 88, manufactured by Magnezit Group, and Interfull 56 OS, manufactured by VGH company) for lining of tundishes have been conducted in the basic oxygen shop of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works. The paper presents the results of these testings, displays advantages of dry spraying technology and explains the effect of lining type on quality of metal products. It was shown that wear of gunning mix Brolitex Bulk 88 in the area of slag belt was larger by 30% comparing with serial mix Dalgun P803, while wear of Interfull 56 OS in the same area was the same. In the meantime, wear of both mixes in the metal area was comparable with wear of serial mix and didn’t exceed 5–7 mm during series of melts. It was noted, that time required for manufacture of “dry” lining decreased by more than 2.5 times compared with conventional ones, while time for heat treatment decreased by 5 times. The mix Interfull 56 OS is characterized by larger mix consumption (in average 3.5 t per ladle, while average consumption of serial mix makes 3 t perladle). The results of metal processing in the sheet rolling shop No. 9 have shown that out-of-grade metal with non-metallic inclusions decreased by 2 times in the fi rst three slabs firstly melt from the tundish. |
