Tsvetnye Metally

The September issue features an extended review authored by the general director of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Site Sanakulov and deputy chief geologist Khamroev. The article, included in the Nanostructured Metals and Materials section, examines the production, properties and prospective application of nanogold. The paper describes the types of ultradispersed (nano) gold ores and gives a classification of forms in which natural gold with aggregations of free nanogold can be found. The authors describe the problems of extracting ultradispersed nanogold from refractory ores and identify factors that make the low recovery of dispersed gold during cyanidation difficult. The publication of this article marks the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

As usual, this issue features an International Non-Ferrous Metals Market Review.

Of practical relevance is the article included in the Noble Metals and Their Alloys section that describes the processes developed by Kazmekhanobr for processing of low-grade gold ores and man-made materials.

The Metal Processing section features an article describing an experimental alloy that serves as the basis for developing innovative heat-resistant aluminium alloys, which would provide an alternative for 2xxx series alloys.

The closing article of this issue tells the history of Russia’s non-ferrous metallurgy and its role in supplying non-ferrous metals to the country’s ordnance plants in the 16th-18th centuries.
