Tsvetnye Metally

The opening article of the April issue of Tsvetnye Metally includes an international review of the non-ferrous metals market (as of March 2021). The Economics and Management of Production section features the following article authored by S. I. Korneev: China’s Aluminium Sector and Prospects of Global Aluminium Industry. Using the country’s primary aluminium industry as an example, the paper demonstrates China’s global economic strategy.

One of the papers published in the Heavy Non-Ferrous Metals section considers modelling of the sparging process to reduce zinc from oxide melt. The developed thermodynamic modelling technique ensures approximation to real systems by removing the metal phase and gases from the liquid medium.

Based on the findings from the conducted studies, the authors of the article Extraction of Copper from the Mining Industry Recirculation Waters came up with a process for recovering copper from the recirculation water of the Soryinsk tailings pod, with the target products being copper concentrate and decopperized water.

The Noble Metals and Their Alloys section features the following article: Titanium Cassettes Used as a Cathode in Direct Flow Electrolytic Cells. It is shown that the application of corrugated titanium cassettes as an electrode allows to enlarge the electrode surface area in electrolytic cells designed for non-ferrous metals production and refining, with no need to retrofit the existing cells.

One of the papers published in the Materials Science section attempts to understand the effect of hydrogen on the structure of tube specimens made of titanium alloy PT-7M and their flattening. Titanium alloys are indispensable when producing such components of transport nuclear power plants as steam generators.
