The April issue is opened by the Cast Iron Production section. It is proposed to include a spent wax-like model composition in the briquette for cupola melting iron. It is shown that the use of such briquettes in the charge composition contributes to intensification of cupola melting and reduction of harmful sulfur impurities in smelted iron.

The Foundry section is devoted to the study of the effect of the Supply to the Consumer stage on the quality of foundry coke. A new three-dimensional model of the liquid phase - microstructures taking into account the turbulent flow of the liquid phase and establishes the equation for the solid phase is also presented.

The Rolling and other Metal Forming Processes section provides a historical overview of changing the work rolls diameter, as well as two new solutions for production of high-strength AHSS steels: Hyper-UC and Flex-HI rolling mills.

In the Pipe Production section, the structural and mechanical properties of steel grades 4Kh5MF1S, 4Kh5V2FS and 5KhNM are compared, it is shown that 4Kh5MF1S steels have the best adaptability for plugs production. The positive experience of the use of rotational friction welding is described using the example of the Drilling Equipment Plant (Orenburg). It is proved that the further effective application of this technology requires studying the processes of structure formation during its application, assessing the effect of variability of welding conditions on the structural phase state and mechanical properties of welded joints, evaluating the feasibility and identifying the features of post-welding heat treatment.

In the Heating and Heat Treatment section it is shown that quenching in aqueous solutions of polyalkylene glycol enables to achieve the maximum level of resistance of high tempered steel to brittle fracture and its fatigue strength, as well as hardenability over the entire cross section of metal products.

The Coating and Heat Treatment section is devoted to the study of the phase composition and microstructure of the synthesized coatings and the description of the physicochemical processes that occur during their synthesis. It is shown that the use of synthesized silicate materials will increase the reliability and durability of the oil pipeline system, as well as reduce costs during its operation.

In the Economics and Finance section, an approach is proposed that allows to generate an updated forecast estimate of economic sustainability, taking into account the influence of the most significant risk factors, in the form of a comprehensive index of economic sustainability. The indicators of assessment of domestic and world steel markets, expanding information on their volume, saturation level and enterprises market shares, are presented.

The Our Anniversaries section contains congratulations to A. V. Kushnarev, Managing Director of EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK.

In the On the Centenary of V. I. Lenin section a material on the activities of the founder of the Soviet state related to the Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov is published.

The April issue is completed by materials telling about metallurgists - veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
