Chernye Metally
The twelfth issue of the "Chernye Metally" journal for 2018 opens a section on new developments of the Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G. I. Nosov, namely:
- a package of new technologies for the production of large-sized parts with a curved surface on a plate mill, which includes combined processes of asymmetric rolling and plastic bending and plate rolling and stamping;
- in the joint work of MSTU and MISiS specialists, analysis of the results of microstructural studies of agglomerates from the charge based on iron ore concentrate from ferruginous quartzites obtained in the “sinter pot” installation, in order to identify the features of the mechanism of chemical elements migration between the mineral components of the agglomerative sintered mass;
- the research of MSTU and SUSU the authors on the pressing issue of energy saving when using electric arc technological units of industrial production due to effective dynamic extreme control of energy consumption under conditions of real intensive action of random noise and technological disturbances;
Specialists of the Department of Accounting and Economic Analysis reviewed the relationship between the state and industrial enterprises on the calculation of cost in the framework of state defense orders, and also proposed the most effective method for calculation that allows to take into account the interests of all participated parties.
In the “Heating and Heat Treatment” section, publications devoted to the effect of the furnace initial temperature on the temperature differential over the section of the billet using physical modeling, as well as to the world's first direct hardening installation in the line of the Steckel sheet rolling mill put into operation at the Nucor Steel plant in Tuscaloosa.
The publication of the “Energy and Ecology” section devoted to technologies for utilization of waste from the mining and metallurgical industry shows that the bulk of the industry waste comes in inorganic silicate wastes: overburden soils, mine dumps, enrichment tailings, construction wastes, slags.
The section “Metallurgy and Metallography” published the method for assessing the contamination by nonmetallic inclusions of a forged shell of a super-large ingot weighing 420 tons. Also, the section suggests the possibility for estimating the radiation embrittlement of water-cooled power reactor core materials without using a shift in the brittleness critical temperature.
In the "Metalworking" section, the publication of domestic researchers are presented: improving the technology of processing steel chips due to its crushing directly on metal-cutting machines using the cutting method with advanced plastic deformation, as well as the universal and reliable method for determining the shear strain resistance of materials sensitive to the strain rate, in particular at high temperatures.
