Chernye Metally

The 6th issue of “Chernye metally” journal (2018) includes the most of its usual sections.

It is opened by the section “Coke and chemical production”. The paper by V. Ivanova and E. Shamina presents the results of the research of determination the effect of the density and porosity parameters, as well as the humidity of the environment, on the quantitative change in the moisture content of the foundry coke of commodity size. Another paper in this section is devoted to investigation of the new technology for manufacture of shaped castings used in coke oven doors by German specialists from Refratechnik Steel, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe and KSB.

4 articles form the special section “Metal forming and Engineering technologies”, presenting the new developments of the specialists from Tula State University (Polytechnic Institute) in this field. The article by N. Lisunets from the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” is also included in this section. It considers possibilities of improvement of preparation production facilities of the metal working enterprises using section and sheet rolled metal due to application of waste-free shift cutting in stamps and shears.

The section “Coating and Surface Finishing” observes two innovations developed by the Max Plank Institute of Iron Research in the field of corrosion resistance and self-protection of metallic materials.

The section “heating and Heat Treatment” includes two researches – about high-efficient bright annealing line at Outokumpu plant in Krefeld and about flexible control and managing system 4.0 for furnaces in the framework of Industry 4.0 initiative (developed by Asinco GmbH).

The section “Power Engineering and Ecology” displays the developed and conducted waste-free GMH policy can be formulated as combination of 4 “R”: Rethink, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. All these processes usually require essential financial expenses, but ecologically acceptable production is required by legislative standards in Germany.

The section “Metal Science and Metallography” has also two papers. E. Goli-Oglu and his colleagues from NLMK Dansteel presented the research of metallurgical quality of heat-resistant low-alloyed molybdenum steel 16Mo3 in sheet with width up to 150 mm for shells of steam turbines. R. Tromp et al. from Utrecht University and Max Plank Institute of Iron Research examined adsorption of proteins on the surface of high-quality steel used in the food industry. Adsorption mechanisms can be explained by chemistry of surfacial processes, and understanding of these mechanisms can help to develop the strategy impeding adsorption of proteins.

The issue also contains papers in the section “Digital technologies”.
