A wide application of themicroscopic analysis methodscharacterizes the studies conducted in widely differing areas.
This issue of the journal begins with the section “Ore Preparation”, where, in particular, the prospects of changing over to dry grinding ofpotash ores with subsequent dry processing are discussed (the paper by А. D. Samukov and V. V. Gladkova). The studies were conducted by the method of X-ray microtomography.
By means of the methods of analytical scanning electron and laser microscopy, the possibilities of sulfide minerals and cassiterite, as components of lode tin ores, surface modification by stable metal-dibutyldithiocarbamate complexes, were studied (the paper by T. N. Мatveeva, et al. in the section “Beneficiation Processes”). It is shown, that selective action of these complexes contributive with a view to prevent transfer of sulfides into tin concentrate.
By means of the mossbauer spectroscopy method, the mineral phases ratio in the titanium-magnetite-ilmenite ores deposits of the Eastern Siberia and China were determined (the paper by V. P. Lyutoev, et al., in the section “Technological Mineralogy”). On the basis of these data, a conclusion was drawn with respect to mostrational technologies for processing of this type of ores.
The thin-layer (channel) apparatuses, distinguished by singularity of construction, andcombining water treatment and beneficiation functionalities, are presented in the section “Equipment” (the paper by V. G. Cherkasov). Theadvisability of using the apparatuses in question isjustified by high losses of small and fine size fractions of valuable component inhydro-mechanized treatment of minerals.
The paper by N. V. Mikhaylova and O. Yu. bizyaev in the section “Secondary Raw Material Processing” is dedicated to the issues of new equipment application for beneficiation of solid municipal waste with a view to producelow-ash secondary fuel. A roller type separator is described, demonstrating a combination of disintegration and high-efficiency screening operations. The advantages of the separator in question – wet andadhesive materials are easily screened, high yield of fuel fractions, possibility to achieve a significant recovery of glass.
