Chernye Metally
"Chernye Metally" journal No. 6-2013 has been published.
Conventional section "Development of metallurgy in Russia and CIS countries" is presented by the large collection of six articles devoted to 80th anniversary of starting steelmaking at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works.
The translated section includes materials about the following topics:
• five important steps of continuous improvements in pulverized coal injection technology including the reduction of transport and injection gas to a minimum, the development of PCI-plant design, the implementation of a fast and accurate injection rate control system, long-distance dense phase conveying and the Oxycoal+ technology (Kuettner);
• reliability of plant components made of polymers and their stability against the highly aggressive pickling acids, whereby polymers have been employed successfully for decades as material for tanks, pipes, valves and acid regeneration technology (VDEh Industrial Research Institute and Swerea KIMAB);
• steam production from the waste energy via Tenova iRecovery system, if steam cannot be sold or used for plant processes, for different kinds of furnaces.
Large economical article presents the Indian economy since 2005 that has been on a tear as it has been growing by over 8 % on average each year. The raw material situation in India and the unique production routes have resulted in remarkable progress in metallurgy, with special technological solutions. That begs the question of whether India will soon increase the production of crude steel as dramatically as China.
The historic section displays the first presentation of stainless steel by Krupp, and the second issue of “History of national metallurgy in faces” (2nd quarter of 2013).
