The results of vibrating sizing screen prototype model main operating parameters study, as developed by the Research and Engineering Corporation «Mekhanobrtekhnika», are presented in comparison with its earlier tested previous model. Potential prospects of developing a commercial prototype of vibrating sizing screen for size classification of dry finedispersed materials, permitting to eliminate main disadvantages of standard vibrating screens: low throughput capacity, clogging and rapid wear of screening media, are corroborated. Main processing parameters, characterizing operation of vibrating sizing screen, are considered: throughput capacity, determined by specific load of material fed to screening media; recovery (% of separation) of required size fraction into undersize and separation efficiency by this size fraction, showing degree of undersize contamination with coarser size fractions. From the results of the earlier model and vibrating sizing screen prototype comparison it follows, that with same open area per screening media unit area, specific throughput capacity of prototype increased from 3.2–4.4 t/m2·h, as maximum achieved on the earlier model, to 7.9 t/m2·h, following optimization of material feeding system. With that, the operating parameters substantially improved with respect to recovery and small size fractions separation efficiency (from 0.18 to 0.63 mm). Recovery of –0.63 mm size fraction into undersize reached 90 %, and that of –0.315 mm and –0.18 mm size fractions exceeded 95 %. With optimized vibrating sizing screen prototype regime of operation, clogging of wedge wire openings with material was not observed.
