The application areas of antimony are briefly described, the dynamics of prices and world production of antimony is shown, and the distribution of the world’s antimony reserves and the antimony production volume in the Republic of Tajikistan is characterized. The information on antimony mines operating in the Republic is provided. The main antimony products on the world market are antimony ore, antimony concentrates and metallic antimony of varying degrees of purity (as well as chemical compounds of antimony, including trioxide). China, Tajikistan and Russia are also the main exporters of antimony ores and concentrates. The main producer of antimony, providing 43% of demand in the world (according to the results of 2023), remains China, which in recent years has been limiting the export of this raw material due to a decrease in production volumes and in order to avoid the use of dual-use raw materials (for the military industry). Subsequently, this led to an almost twofold increase in its price on the world market during 2024. The United States and other countries that use antimony for the military industry are vulnerable to antimony supplies due to China’s decision. Currently, the likelihood of disruptions in antimony supplies has increased significantly, forcing major players such as the United States and European countries to quickly organize secure supply chains from non-Chinese sources, including Tajikistan. Tajikistan is rich in antimony reserves located in the central, according to the geological structure, part of the Republic. These ores are sulfide antimony and complex sulfide antimony–gold ores. The largest antimony deposits are Dzhidzhikrut and Konchoch. The special importance of the antimony production industry for the industrialization of the Republic of Tajikistan is emphasized.
