Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the quality indicators of round sections with a bottom made of grade 50 steel in the production of a pilot batch of 360 pieces on the hot screw rolling and pressing line (HSRP) of BB SPA Pribor. It is shown that after screw rolling of billets with a diameter of 42 mm and a length of 70 mm on a 30-80 mill, the deviations of the outer diameters along the length of the sections were 0.5–0.7 mm, and that of the inner cavity at the upper edge — about 0.5 mm. The dispersion in height is 3 mm along the outer side and 5 mm along the depth of the cavity. After calibration by stamping on a horizontal press with a force of 500 kN, the outer diameters decreased from 36.5 to 33 mm, and the diameter of the cavity increased from 19 to 20 mm. The unevenness of diameters of the outer bottom and upper parts is no more than 0.3 mm, the inner one is about 0.1 mm. The overall height after stamping increased from 119 to 127 mm, the cavity - from 107.4 to 112.2 mm. The unevenness of the outer height increased to 4 mm, and the inner one remained at the same level (5 mm). It was found that after rolling and stamping, the hardness along the length of the semi-finished products is unevenly distributed - from 22 to 26 HRC. A decarburization layer with a thickness of ~ 273 μm was detected. The grain shape is mainly rounded, the size is from 70 to 80 μm. However, grains of smaller sizes are observed - from 41 to 54 μm (up to 25 %). The distribution of granular pearlite along the section height is also uneven and is 3-7 points. The efficiency and versatility of the technology for producing round sections with a bottom on the HSRP line have been confirmed. The identified deviations in the quality indicators of deformed round sections can be used to improve the temperature and deformation modes of the HSRP line.
