Explored minerals alongside with the other resources of land, forest, water, etc. are the natural value of a country. The relative weight of resources governs priority trends of economic development, competitive ability and investment capacity of a region. The qualitative, quantitative and value analyses of mineral resources available in the Khabarovsk Territory are performed with respect to the total natural wealth of the Far Eastern Federal District holding one of the largest reserves (more than 50 %) of minerals and raw materials in Russia. The article gives a brief description of the most promising ore-bearing provinces recommendable for geological and economic evaluation towards commercial development in the Khabarovsk Krai. By the methodology of the statistical office of the European Union and according to the Russian Federation Law on Subsoil, an element of the national wealth is the mineral resources qualified as assets irrespective of being currently under mining or not. In connection with this, it is required to perform appraisal and value analysis of ore reserves in an area, region or a body. Using the procedures developed by the Russian Geological Research Institute (VSEGEI) and the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra), the value of potential resources is calculated as well as their cost-related material compositions and types are determined, which has allowed zoning of the territory of the Far Eastern Federal District in terms of the subsoil value and with regard to the other federal subjects in Russia, and enabled preparing the Map of the Far East Region. |
