History of pellets production factory of Sokolovsko-Sarbaiskoe Mining and Concentration Production Association was started at May 26, 1964, when two roasting machines of first USSR pellets factory were commissioned. The last stage of roasting machines was commissioned in 1971. Factory, equipped by 12 first generation roasting machines OK-108 has sooner reached the project capacity – 8.4 mln. t of flux iron-ore pellets per year. In 1978, pellets were considered as the best in the country, corresponding to the global standards and attested by State quality mark. In 2007, the factory started the production of non-fluxed pellets. For the 50 years of work, more than 347 mln. t of pellets were produced. The first pelletization factory in the country became certain polygon for processing of pellets production technology, constructive peculiarities of roasting machines, and preparation of personnel for modernized mining-concentration enterprises. Main technological operations in the pellets production time are concluded in preparation of charge, obtaining of raw pellets (pelletization), and roasting of pellets. The Program on reconstruction and modernization of roasting machines is realized for the purpose of maintenance of existing production capacity, increasing of output products quality, and decreasing of specific consumption of fuel-energetic resources at the factory. There is continued the searching of ways of increasing of quality of raw pellets and technical-economical indices of their production process. In prospect of further development (according to the Strategic development of Sokolovsko-Sarbaiskoe Mining and Concentration Production Association), there is planned the construction of conveyor roasting machine with productivity of 4 mln. t per year and manufacturing of metalized product, containing not more than 90% of iron.
