The article gives an analytical survey of the short history of research and the features of morphostructural and geological composition of the water basins of Russian Far Eastern seas. It specifies the main types of mineral products and estimation of their practical value. A special attention is paid to the sea shelf gold placers, placers of ferrous metals, barite deposits and accumulations of gas hydrates in Okhotsk Sea. There is made a conclusion that, in respect of the prospection of deep-sea polymetallic sulfides, the Okhotsk Sea back-arc zone of the Greater Kuril Ridge is very promising. The authors emphasize the necessity of promoting of geological and geophysical research works with the aim of discovery in the region of large oil and gas bearing province, particularly in the western part of the Deryugin depression. |
