This article shares the history of exploration and development of sulphide-copper nickel ore deposits of Kola Peninsula by Severonickel and Pechenganickel combines. Thirteen deposits were totally explored and set on balance. By now, 5 of these deposits have been completely developed. Yearly periods of deposits development are described together with extraction amounts of ore and metals, and extraction indices of these deposits. This article detaily describes the following information about the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company:
— current status of mining process stage of the Company;
— history of development of Zapolyarnoye deposit by Severny mine;
— history of development of upper part of Zhdanovskoe deposit by Tsentralny open cast mine;
— conversion from open cast to underground mining of Zhdanovskoe deposit by Severny-Gluboky mine in 2004.
There is also described the choice of development systems of Severny-Gluboky mine. The sublevel partial ore caving development was accepted as the basic system. The modern mobile equipment of leading world producers is applied for realization of this system. In conclusion, there are given the future basic stages of development of mining complex of Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company:
— increasing of productivity of Severny-Gluboky mine to 7.5 mln t at the expense of construction of Yuzhny underground section;
— finishing of development of Zapolyarnoe deposit in 2020;
— finishing of development of Kotselvaara-Kammikivi and Semiletka deposits in 2023;
— involving of Sputnik and Verkhnee reserve deposits into development for the purpose of keeping of reached level of metals extraction.
