This article shows a brief history of application of wrought aluminum alloys in space-rocket hardware. There are considered the main requirements for modern materials and construction. There is given a short conclusion about prospects of application of aluminum alloys in the space-rocket hardware products. Nowadays, increasing of weight efficiency and technical characteristics of modern space-rocket hardware is an important task, which requires the development of new materials, technologies and design solutions. Aluminum alloys and, mostly, aluminum-lithium alloys are suitable for these purposes. The alloys, based on Al – Cu – Li system, possess the most optimal combination of strength and resource characteristics. There is shown the usage of semi-finished products of Russian 1460 alloy, based on this system, in welded tanks of American reusable Delta rocket. The high-strength, corrosion-resistant and weldable V-1469 (В-1469) alloy, based on Al – Cu – Mg – Li system and alloyed with Ag, Sc and Zr, is the latest prospective Russian development for application in space-rocket hardware products. Easy casting and formation of this alloy makes it possible to obtain all kinds of semifinished products. During the cold rolling process, this alloy is characterized by high ductility and can be welded by all types of welding. There is developed the commercial production of different kinds of semi-finished products (sheets, plates, extrusions and rolling rings). The V-1469 alloy is recommended for the high-loaded nodes and constructive elements of new generation prospective transport space vehicle and other spacerocket hardware. The alloy can functionate in the temperature range from cryogenic to +150 оC.
