The article proposes to evaluate admissible mining-induced damage of water resources in the areas of mining lease or land allotment when developing project documentation for a largescale open pit coal mine in the conditions of the north by four indexes of underground water (specific integrated ground water impurity index; annual drawdown of strategic ground water reserves; coal open pit mining-drained area; cubic content of treated ground water spent for economic needs of a large-scale open pit) and four indexes of surface water (cubic content of treated open pt waters spent for process needs; specific integral impurity index of treated open pit waters; actual mining-induced water flood concentration; actual reproductive capacity of surface water). In the capacity of a generalized index to represent situation of natural water resources, the authors offer an integrated index of mining-induced damage of water resources in the areas of mining leases and land allotments. The described approach to planning (predicting) water resource condition can be of use to compiling the list of environ-politics to be included in environmental sections of projects for mining in the North.
