Geological structure of diamond-containing kimberlite pipes; indication characteristics of rocks, which form these pipes; and mineralogical peculiarities of rocks and extracted diamonds are defied by certain characteristics.
This article shows the connection of the classification system of these characteristics with behavior of kimberlites of well defined diamond deposit both in the process of ore preparation, and in the direct extraction of diamonds, during the concentration of deposit's ores.
Fifteen classificatory geological and mineralogical characteristics include 11 characteristics, which define the following data:
-various aspects of treatability of diamond crystals and their safe keeping in ore preparation of kimberlites before the concentration;
-direct extraction of diamonds in the processes of kimberlite concentration.
The established connection of geological, mineralogical and concentration characteristics of kimberlites was reliably observed in terms of 10 kimberlite pipes, which are the most large and widely exploited in the world. This makes it possible to suppose the behavior peculiarities of kimberlites and diamonds during their opening and extraction. This supposition is based on the geological data, which characterize the well defined kimberlite pipe, in the decision making process for its development.
